• January 5 -
  Upkeep and styling of the Garfield Park Conservatory bonsai collection by club members.

 

• February 2 -
  Paul Weishaar
  Workshop:  Cascade-
  Style Juniper Bonsai.
  Reservations required 14 days in advance. $40 club members, cost includes tree, pot, soil, and wire. Observers welcome.

 

• March 1 -
  Simon Feng
  Workshop:  Potting / Repotting Your Bonsai
  Workshop will involve considerations when initially potting or repotting your bonsai.   Participants in last month's cascade workshop, as well as others, are invited to bring in their trees for potting.

 

• April 5 -
  Simon Feng
  Workshop:  Techniques of Air-
  Layering
  Demonstration and discussion of the  propagation of trees through the use of the air-layering method.

 

• May 3 -
  Steve Knapp
  Workshop:  How to Prepare Your Bonsai for Exhibition.
  Workshop demonstration addresses issues to consider when preparing your bonsai for formal public exhibition.  Members are invited to bring in their trees to work on.

  Indianapolis Museum of Art Bonsai Exhibition
  Public exhibition of club members bonsai at the Indianapolis Museum of Art.  Hours are 10:00 AM -
  5:00 PM both days.  Map to IMA.

 

• June 7 -
  Paul Weishaar
  Workshop:  Soil and Soil Amendments
  Demonstration of the various elements and additives that can make up bonsai soils, including a comparison of several completed soil mixes.

 

• June 24 -

  Garfield Park Bonsai Show / Sale
  Bonsai exhibition and sale at Garfield Park Conservatory.  Hours are 10:00 AM -
  5:00 PM both days.

 

• July 5 -
  Mike Devore
  Workshop:  Black Olive Bonsai. 
  Reservations required 14 days in advance.  Cost to be announced. Observers welcome.

 

• August 2 -
  Mike Devore
  Workshop:  Care and Training of Tropical Bonsai
  Discussion on the care and training of tropical bonsai. Following demonstration, there will be a hands-on workshop using tropical material you bring.

 

• September 6 -
  Paul Weishaar
  Workshop:  Selecting Your Bonsai Container
  Discussion on selecting the right pot for your bonsai, taking into consideration style, size, species, etc.

 

• September 9 -
  Penrod Art Fair
  The Indianapolis Bonsai Club will participate in and have bonsai on sale at the Penrod Art Fair at the Indianapolis Museum of Art.  Hours are from 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM.  Map to IMA.

 

• October 4 -
  Steve Knapp, Rob Pugh, and Paul Weishaar
  Workshop:  How to Keep Your Bonsai Alive
  Discussion on preparing your bonsai for successful wintering. 
  * Membership fees are due at this time.

 

• October 21 -
  November 4 -
  
  Garfield Park Chrysanthemum / Tropical Bonsai Show
  Annual show of chrysanthemum and tropical bonsai specimen at the Conservatory.  Hours are from 10:00 AM to 5:00 PM.

 

• November 1 -
  Bonsai "Show and Tell"
  Members and guests are invited to bring their own trees in to show, get feedback, or work on during the meeting.

 

• December 6
  Annual Christmas dinner at the Chinese Ruby restaurant.  Dead bonsai contest and bonsai material raffle.
