February 2: Pots and Tools Paul Weishaar will discuss how to pick pots for your trees.
This will entail color, size, shape and design to give your bonsai the best look.
John Braunsdorf will talk about tools and what is necessary for bonsai. He will bring
a large line of tools and accessories that will help you decide what tools you need.
These tools will be available for purchase and he will have a catalog for orders
if your needs are more specific.
March 2: Repotting Steve Knapp will lead this month’s meeting, tying in January’s
meeting on soil and February’s meeting on pot selection. He will do a demo using
one of his own trees showing root trimming as well.
April 6: Shaping Techniques Simon Feng will share his secrets of shaping bonsai. This
will include pruning and wiring. His years of experience will be invaluable to the
veteran and the novice alike.
April 17 & 18: Marco Invernizzi There was a lot of excitement for the April workshops
and demonstration by Marco Invernizzi. Sunday the 17th will be the demonstration
by Marco. Monday the 18th will have Marco hosting workshops.
May 4: Pests, Diseases and Fertilizers The club will hold a panel discussion on pests,
diseases and fertilizers. The three members that are volunteering to be on the panel
have not been appointed yet. We will announce them after we tell them!

June 1: Summertime Maintenance The speaker for this workshop will be announced. The
gist of this meeting is how to properly care for your bonsai during the unpredictable
Indiana Summer.
June 25 & 26: Garfield Park Show This is our annual Garfield Park show. We will hold
a workshop on the 26th while the show runs both days. The facilitator(s) of the workshop
will be announced later.

July 6: Mike Devore Demo Club member and tropical bonsai dealer Mike Devore will hold
his annual summer bonsai demonstration. He will talk about pruning, pruning and pruning.
B.Y.O.S. (Bring Your Own Shears!)
August 3: Mike Devore Workshop Mike Devore will lead a workshop on tropical bonsai
material. Participants will have a choice of tropical bonsai material provided by
Mike on which to work. Reservations required 14 days in advance. Costs vary based
on materials desired. Observers’ welcome.
August 19 – 21: Chicago Bonsai Show,Glencoe, IL
September 7: Fine- tuning Your Bonsai The September workshop comes at the perfect time:
right before Penrod and White River Gardens. We will have discussions and demos on
properly preparing a tree for show. (Speaker to be announced)
September 10: Penrod Arts Fair The Indianapolis Bonsai Club will participate in and
have bonsai on sale at the Penrod Art Fair at the Indianapolis Museum of Art. This
is our primary fund raising event and any member is welcome to bring bonsai and supplies
to sell. Hours are from 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
September 17 – November 13: White River Gardens The club will repeat its very successful
show at White River Garden Conservatory, next to the Indianapolis Zoo. The exhibit
will be shown in the White River Gardens Greenhouse. The Club will also sponsor
a bonsai sale at the Gardens on a Saturday the 24th and Sunday the 25th. Workshops
and demonstrations for the exhibition will also be announced later.

October 5: Bonsai 101 This will be an evening discussing care and styling of bonsai.
This successful meeting has traditionally been held in October right after Penrod
and White River Gardens to help individuals new to the art of bonsai.
