January 3: Preview of 2007 Schedule of Events and Review of Videos of Past IBC
Events Mark Fields will give an overview of the 2007 IBC schedule followed by a viewing
of historical IBC videos of club events from the 70's and 80's.
February 7: "Bonsai Soils" Presentation Paul Weishaar will repeat his lecture on
bonsai soils. The lecture will include a discussion of the various elements and
additives that can make up bonsai soils, including a comparison of several completed
soil mixes.
March 7: "Potting" Workshop Carl Wooldridge will lead a workshop on potting or repotting
trees. Participants in last fall's Bonsai 101 workshop are encouraged to bring their
workshop trees in for assistance in potting their trees. Other members can bring
in one tree for repotting with club assistance. The club will provide soil at $10
a bag.
April 4: "Juniper" Workshop and "Rough Pruning on Chinese Elm" Demonstration This
workshop will feature the use of nursery stock junipers and will be followed by a
demonstration by Mark Fields on rough pruning a Chinese elm for the June ramification
demonstration.
April 15 & 16: Marco Invernizzi Demonstration & Workshops Marco will present a styling
demonstration on a conifer species yet to be determined on the 15th followed by a
"bring your own tree" styling workshop on the 16th.
May 2: "Air- Layering" and "Thread and Root Grafting" Demonstrations Participants
will be led by Mark Fields in a demonstration of air- layering and thread and root
grafting techniques with various species of bonsai.
May 5 & 6: Indianapolis Museum of Art Exhibition The IBC returns to the Indianapolis
Museum of Art with this exhibition to be held in the museum's Garden Court.

June 6: "Ramification of Chinese Elms" Demonstration Presented by Mark Fields, this
demonstration will focus on the development and refinement of branches in Chinese
elm.
June 23 & 24: Annual Garfield Park Exhibit
July 4: No Meeting Due to Holiday
July 14: IBC Member "Backyard Tour" Members are invited to tour one of the club
member's bonsai collection. Details will be given out at the June meeting for the
protection of the member's trees.
August 1: "Tropical Bonsai"Workshop Mike Devore will lead a workshop on tropical
bonsai material. Participants will have a choice of tropical bonsai material provided
by Mike on which to work. Reservations required 14 days in advance. Costs vary
based on materials desired. Observers welcome.
September 5: "BYOT*" Workshop This meeting will be an opportunity for club members
to bring in their own trees to be critiqued by others. Members may bring up to 3
of their bonsai for a constructive review and critique on styling, pot selection,
appearance and general care. Ideal for preparation for the annual White River Gardens
Exhibition or even for preparation for MABA 2008.
September 8: Annual Penrod Arts Fair and IBC Bonsai Sale The Indianapolis Bonsai
Club will participate in and have bonsai on sale at the Penrod Art Fair at the Indianapolis
Museum of Art. This is our primary fund raising event and any member is welcome to
bring bonsai and supplies to sell. Hours are from 10:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
September 22 - November 11: The Annual White River Gardens Exhibition The club will
continue with its very successful and popular bonsai exhibition at the White River
Garden Conservatory, next to the Indianapolis Zoo. The exhibits will be shown in
the White River Gardens Greenhouse as well in the courtyard of the Gardens. The
IBC will also sponsor its Annual Bonsai Sale at the Gardens on September 22 and 23.
Possible workshops and demonstrations for the exhibition will be determined and announced
later.
October 3: "Bonsai 101" Workshop Carl Wooldridge will again present this basic entry- level
workshop as a follow- up to the White River Gardens and Penrod bonsai sales. Individuals
who purchased trees at either of these events are invited, and encouraged, to come
and bring their new trees for assistance on styling and care.
November 7: "Bonsai Displays, Stands, and Accent Plants" As preparation for MABA
2008, sponsored by the IBC, this program will focus on the use of accent plants,
viewing stones, stands, and other items in designing quality bonsai displays.
December 5: Annual Christmas Dinner The IBC will hold its annual Christmas dinner
at the Chinese Ruby restaurant starting at 6:30 PM, with dinner at 7:00 PM. The
meeting will include the usual dead bonsai contest and bonsai material raffle for
all paid club members.
